Unfortunately I can't meet this Friday as I'll be in the mountains but can next week.

Jules Kueffer
Hey guys,
I'm Andy Miller's friend, Jules. I look forward to meeting all of you and having so much fun bowling!
Unfortunately, I will also be in the mountains this Friday.
I can practice in my sleep though.
Thanks!
Jules

John Auerbach
Hello all! Well really exciting news... We are Eligible for this season with our current team. I have been told that most people end up having to combine teams or split up right before the start of the season because they could not get the roster filled... so this is pretty cool that we did this this early on. I also wanted to send you the rules of the league. It’s nothing too serious, just so that you all know how it works.
Better Off Bowling Rules
Better Off Bowling has its own rules that are different from most leagues, so it is important for members and especially captains to understand how it works. It’s pretty simple!
1. Team Size
Teams are made up of 6-10 people including the captain. Your team is not eligible to play until you have at least 6 members accepted/paid on your team. If you do not have enough members by the time registration closes, you will either have random members added to your team or, if the league is full, have your money refunded to your credit card.
Teams may have any number of men/women, there is no requirement to be co-ed, though most teams are.
On any given Sunday, if a team has less than 4 people, they can still bowl and submit their scores but they will be at a disadvantage because each bowler's score can only be counted once. The scores counted must be from the same game.
2. Scheduling/ Matches
Each team plays six matches over the course of the season, one each week. Each match is against one opponent (except on rare occasion of a bye-week). You have approx. an hour and 25 minutes to bowl, and get in as many games as you can before your time is up. You must then choose the top 4 scores from your best game.
You will receive a schedule for 5 of the 6 weeks of play in the beginning, and the last week’s schedule will be decided by your team standings
3. Betting a pitcher at the bar with your opponents on the game is highly encouraged
4. Scoring
Though there are 6-10 people on a team, only the top four scores of one particular game count. YOU MAY NOT MIX-AND-MATCH SCORES FROM MULTIPLE GAMES. This scoring setup means that you shouldn’t be afraid to recruit fun people to your team just because they aren’t ringers – because only the top four scores matter anyways.
Additionally, we track individual best scores for awards and individual standings, so to the right of the column for entering team score, you may enter individual scores (their best score from any game), however these will not impact the team score at all.
There are no handicaps in Better Off Bowling.
If you do not have at least 4 people present, you may still bowl, but each person’s score may be only counted once, so you will be at a disadvantage. Incomplete scores may be counted, but you may not extrapolate or “average out” what you would have scored.
5. Standings
Team standings are primarily determined by the win-loss-tie record. In the common case of teams have the same record, standing are then determined by season average. In the unlikely case of a tie there, the tie-breaker will be the highest individual score throughout the season.
On the last (6th) week, the 1st ranked team will play the 2nd ranked team, 3rd will play the 4th, and so on. The championship decided by the outcome of the 1st place and 2nd place team.
6. One person may not bowl under multiple names in a game.
7. Don’t talk about fight club.
8. After your game is over, have the captain record the scores/retrieve scores from front desk (if available) and enter them into the website (www.betteroffbowling.com).
9. Don’t be that guy/girl who gets in a fight or argument over a marginally competitive/social bowling league. If there is an issue, contact your league rep or email one of the contacts listed on the website.
10. Have fun and meet some fellow bowlers!

John Auerbach
Anyone else want o meet up Friday?

John Auerbach
Anyone up for meeting up before the start of the legaue for some "practice"? Maybe we could meet at Punch Bowl... It's a really fun place if you haven't been there yet.

Christine Chonka
I'd be up for that. Would anyone be up for Friday?

John Auerbach
Lisa, Totally jealous you are going to be in the mountains! Have a blast but don't hurt your throwing arm. :)

John Auerbach
Jules,
Once again... jealous you are going to be in the mountains... but if you are Andy's friend... I think you need more practice then you think... haha JK!

Jules Kueffer
John-
Ha, touché.
Thank goodness this was listed in the rules:
"This scoring setup means that you shouldn’t be afraid to recruit fun people to your team just because they aren’t ringers – because only the top four scores matter anyways."
:D See ya guys out there!

lauren frommer
I'm always down to practice!! Just let me know where and when :) Looking forward to meeting everyone!

John Auerbach
Well for those in town this weekend... Does Friday work? Looks like Lauren, Andy, and Christine maybe able to meetup.

Jeanne Shaffer
Definitely looking forward to meeting everyone, but unfortunately I won't be around this Friday either :(

lauren frommer
Are we still on for tonight?

John Auerbach
Lauren, I haven't heard from anyone else... DO you still want to "practice" haha

lauren frommer
I mean, I'm ALWAYS down for bowling! But if no one else is going we can just do it another time. Whatever works best.

John Auerbach
Take 2: Does anyone want to get together either this weekend or next?

lauren frommer
I'm in for either. Obviously lol

Andrew Miller
Hey team,
I'm definitely down to link up this wknd but would rather skip the hassle of the punch bowl social. Not only is it too packed and overpriced but you can only rent out a lane for a hr max.
Also, what do yall think about making shirts? It could be really fun!

lauren frommer
Hey everyone,
So i am going to get some tshirts designed for our team :) i found a place to do them for a pretty good price. is everyone okay with this? also, suggestions for color/design/etc? thanks! looking forward to meeting everyone and getting our bowl on!

Shay Cabral
Hi - I am new to Denver and would like to join your league for the upcoming season - May I?

John Auerbach
I am going to get there early, probably 12:30 , our game stars at 1:35. See you all there!!!

lauren frommer
Hey Everyone! Awesome job yesterday! It was so great meeting all of you, and I'm really looking forward to this season :) So I wanted to let you all know that I purchased our Tshirts today and they are going to look amazing! I had to expedite the shipping so that they would be here in time for our next match (and the team photo) so they came out to $33.66 per person. I put it on my credit card so if ya'll could bring the money next week, that would be awesome :) Can't wait for Sunday!!

John Auerbach
Its offical! Game 1 is a W. Lets keep it rolling (pun intended) this week. Also don't forget about cash for Lauren. Good job everyone. Also, being that most, if not all of us will be off on monday... does anyone want to hit the town after?

John Auerbach
Also, There's A Beverage Here Man lost with a score of 472 last week... so we can for sure beat them if we all pick up a few more pins...:)

Brian Mast
If we do the original time I most likely will not be able to make it

Lisa Hill
I can move to noon if it works for everyone else

lauren frommer
I am going to be in the mountains this weekend so it would be easier for me if our match wasn't until later so i would have time to get down for it. but if everyone else is good with switching to earlier, i will make it work. i will NOT miss bowling lol

Andrew Miller
I agree with John, lets stick with the 4:45 time slot

Susie Chan
Hi! I’m Susie, Captain of The Blue Balls Team, and I noticed that in your next game your team is playing at 4:45pm. Would you be interested in swapping time slots with us? We play at noon this Sunday so please let me know if you’re interested, and please let us know either way what you decide. Thanks!

John Auerbach
All, I'd like your input on Susie's request to switch time.

Jeanne Shaffer
I'm up for switching, it's always fun to start bowling and drinking earlier than 4:45. Our opponent at noon looks like they are ranked 9th or 10th. Can we actually switch and not cause problems with scoring?

Katharine M
I should be able to do either time but because I do have work (again) this weekend the sooner we decide the better if at all possible. Thanks!

Brian Mast
Im up for either time. On another note...Mile High Rollers, we be killing it! #1

Brian Mast
I just looked and I actually have a soccer game at 6:15 on Sunday, so I would actually prefer to switch to the earlier time.

Lisa Hill
I'm so sorry to do this for the second week in a row but I actually just found out I now have to miss again this wkd since I have a job interview in LA on Monday and they are flying me out Sunday. So sorry, promise this should be the last time work effects my bowling! Kill it on Sunday!

Alana Long
I am coming back from an engagement party in Wyoming so I am not sure if I will be back by 12:00.

John Auerbach
It seems that more people are able to meet at the later time then the earlier time. If no one objects to this... I am going to keep our time as is. Please let me know if I'm wrong on this asap
